Why this
niche?
In this niche, I found a channel that started just one month ago and already gained over 5.2 million views. On top of that, I discovered three other channels that also launched recently and hit millions of views as well. This shows that the potential for success in this niche is very high right now. The best part? The content is very easy to create yourself.

Nice voice-over
Alan Watts was a British-American writer and speaker who lived from January 6, 1915, to November 16, 1973. And the voice you hear in this video sounds almost exactly like him. People try to copy this voice because Alan Watts had a very unique tone. Slow, calm, wise and full. This voice in the video feels like a direct copy of his real voice. When viewers hear it, they immediately recognize the tone and emotion, and that’s a reason why they keep watching. It also fits perfectly with the target audience, because most viewers are older and can relate to that calm, thoughtful way of speaking. It feels like listening to a wise storyteller from their own generation.

Starting directly with the story
You know, there's something rather peculiar that happens to certain people.
I like that they start the story right away. There’s no long, dramatic intro. They immediately give value and pull you in from the first second. When you look at the video title The Danger of Seeing What Others Don’t and then hear the opening line “You know, there’s something rather peculiar that happens to certain people,” it connects perfectly. The first sentence already builds mystery around the title. It makes you curious about who these people are and what this “peculiar thing” might be. It’s a strong and triggering hook that fits the title well, and that's exactly what you want to create.

This is fine
The background music and visuals work well together. I don’t see any negative comments about them, and since the video has already reached almost a million views, it’s clear that the audience enjoys this style. That’s exactly why I’d recommend continuing with it because when something works, it works.

Great hook
But I want to suggest something quite different to you today. That this very ability, this clear seeing, might be the most dangerous thing you'll ever possess...
This hook works really well because it instantly grabs attention and keeps viewers curious. It makes them want to know what’s coming next, which helps increase audience retention and watch time. So I'd definitely advise doing the same.

Relatable situations
'You ask how someone is, they say, "Fine." And you both pretend this is a complete answer. You compliment the host. You laugh at jokes that aren't particularly funny. You nod sympathetically at stories you've heard before. It's a kind of collective agreement to stay on the surface, to keep things pleasant, to not look too deeply.'
This script works really well because it’s relatable. Everyone recognizes these small, everyday situations like pretending to care, laughing politely etc. That familiarity makes viewers feel seen, which keeps them listening. It’s simple but smart writing, because people connect with what feels true to their own lives.
Don'ts

Bad stock footage
Like I mentioned before, a lot of older viewers watch videos in this niche, so you can probably get away with using this kind of low-quality stock footage, judging by the views. But if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t use it. The footage looks cheap and takes away from the overall feel of the video.

Great for in this niche
The thumbnail we’re looking at here is something that works very well in this niche. What I noticed with the most popular thumbnails is that they always use Alan Watts’ face, that part is a must (I’ll explain later in the ‘how to create your thumbnail’ section how you can do that.) Besides that, Alan Watts is the main focus, or he’s surrounded by people in the background who are admiring him or sitting around him, but he always has to be the main focus. The text on the thumbnail is also very important, because that’s the message you’re sending. It needs to create a lot of FOMO and raise questions, that’s the key and the secret behind all these thumbnails. Just look at the text used on every thumbnail from this competitor channel. I’ll list them for you so you can see if you notice the pattern.
• Never share this
• Never ignore this
• Stay away from them
• Do not help them
• Quietly disappear
• Exit the Illusion
• Avoid these places
• Stop arguing with them

Important
When I analyzed the competition Alan Watts channels, you start to notice clear patterns in what makes them grow. First, the video pacing is very slow and calm. There are no fast cuts or loud transitions. The slower pacing keeps viewers relaxed and helps them focus on the message and that’s exactly what this audience wants. Second, most videos mix soft stock visuals (nature, clouds, waves, or stars) with slow zoom-ins or gentle motion. It doesn’t need to be complex; it just needs to feel peaceful and aligned with the voice. As I mentioned in the vide analysis: avoid using fake stock footage of random faces. It makes the video feel cheap and takes away the emotional power of the message. It’s better to keep the visuals simple, even showing a still photo of Alan Watts himself works better than throwing in bad stock clips. Third, the audio quality is everything. The voice should sound warm, calm, and almost meditative. Even if you use AI voice, make sure it doesn't sound robotic.
How to find topics?
This niche makes money because the audience is different from most YouTube niches. The viewers are older, calm, and they don’t click away fast. They could watch your whole video because the content feels meaningful, peaceful, and relatable. And as you probably know, when viewers watch longer, YouTube pushes the video harder. That’s why channels in this niche can reach millions of views in just a few weeks. Besides, the topics are always about deep things like purpose, feeling different, understanding yourself, being awake while others are not. These topics never get old, so your videos keep getting views for a long time.
So to find topics in this niche, start by looking at what already works.
Search on YouTube for Alan Watts compilations or Alan Watts motivation videos and sort by Most popular. These videos show you exactly which subjects people connect with the most. You will see clear patterns in the titles, like:
- loneliness
- meaning of life
- staying true to yourself

ChatGPT: The best part is that this niche is easy and cheap to create. You can do everything with AI: the script, the voice and visuals. Basically, search for a topic or idea from a viral video, Google, social media and paste it into ChatGPT and ask it to write a script in a similar style like the competition. In this way, you keep almost the same writing style, but with a completely different topic.
Google: You can also find topic inspiration through Google. This site has hundreds of Alan Watts quotes, all organized and easy to scroll through. Each quote can become a topic for your video. You can pick one quote, build your script around it, and turn it into a full video. I searched for “Alan Watts quotes” and found this website:
YouTube: I also found multiple channels on YouTube that started recently and already gained a lot of views in a short amount of time.

Topic:
To create my own topic in this niche, I started by analyzing the competition channels. I looked at which topics went viral. What was the title? How did the thumbnail look? Did I see a pattern in the type of topic they chose? The videos that blew up were always focused on a specific type of person, and the titles used strong emotional trigger words like danger and disappear. The title speaks directly to the viewer, so as I said before, they start asking themselves if the video is about them. Based on that pattern, the topic I chose for my own video is: Why It’s Dangerous To Wake Up Before Everyone Else - Alan Watts. This title has everything we saw in the viral videos. It starts with “Why,” it includes the trigger word “dangerous,” and it points to a specific type of person: someone who is awake before everyone else. but the why it's dangerous part could raise a lot of questions, and that's why I choose for this one.

How to create your thumbnail?
First I went to ChatGPT and tried to create a thumbnail that looks like Alan Watts, and this is the result. As you can see, it looks very AI-generated, and I also kept getting messages saying that ChatGPT doesn’t cooperate when you try to copy a real person’s face or use a well-known name in an image.

Pikzels.com
Then I started looking for an alternative like an app that would actually allow me to use Alan Watts’ face, because that’s really important in this niche since all the competitors use his face too. Eventually, I found this website called Pikzels.com and what I did there was simply create a new persona and upload 10 photos of Alan Watts’ face, which I just found on Google.

Recreate
Next, I took the thumbnail that I created with ChatGPT and uploaded it into Pikzels with the prompt: ‘recreate this thumbnail with Alan Watts’ face.’ This is what came out on the first try a pretty realistic face that really looks like Alan Watts if you ask me.

Photoshop
After that, I used Photoshop and added some whitening, brightening, and texture only on Alan Watts so the background would get less attention. I also kept the black bar that the competitors use, because it’s a recognizable element in this niche.

In the end, I added the text ‘never share this,’ because I saw a video that used this exact text/thumbnail, and it reached half a million views within two weeks. That shows there’s momentum on this topic, and that the thumbnail triggers the viewers in this niche in a strong way. The font I used: Bely Display
