Corrupt

Why this
niche?
In this niche, I found a channel that started only 3 months ago and already achieved more than 3.3M+ views. This niche is about the most corrupt police officers or military personnel who end up in prison. The great thing about this is that the audience is huge, and I’ve seen another channel quickly generate high views with this content. So, if you find this niche interesting, this one is for you.

Straight to the point, but...
'Number one. Staff Sergeant Robert Bales'
As you’ve seen from what this audience likes, a lot of the comments mention how much they appreciate that the channel gets straight to the point. No long intros, just jump right into the story. That’s something they’re doing very well. However, there’s one thing I would do differently, and that’s the way they start with something like: “Number 1…” Why? Because it makes the video feel like a Top 10 list, and that’s something I’d personally avoid. You don’t want to give viewers time to think, “Do I really want to stay for number 2 or 3?” Other than that, it’s fine.

Real footage
The fact that they immediately show the soldier in uniform is a very smart choice, because viewers clicked on the title ALL U.S MILITARY MEN Sentenced To LIFE In PRISON | Full List & Shocking Details, and this is the first image they see. So they instantly give the viewer a face to connect with. Real photos, real visuals. The more real footage you can use, the better. It makes the story feel more believable and emotionally impactful right from the start.

Let me show you this
I want to show you that it’s not always about high-quality editing. In this video, what we’re seeing is basically a simple slideshow of photos being shown, no fancy effects, no complex transitions. And that’s exactly the point I want to make: You don’t need a high-end editor to get millions of views in this niche. It’s all about your storytelling. As long as the story is strong, clear, and emotionally engaging and you use plenty of real, relatable images like they do here then that’s more than enough.

Don't do this
This is exactly what I meant with the first line of the intro, they use that typical Top 10 video strategy. And don’t get me wrong, the video still reached over half a million views, so it clearly worked. But it’s even better to give the viewer a real reason to keep watching, instead of giving them time to decide whether they even want to see what’s next. I'd use stronger, more triggering hooks and transitions. For example:
- “But what you just heard is nothing compared to what happens next...''
- “And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse… it does.”
- “You might think the story ends there… but it’s only getting started.”

To many focus points.. ❌
Faces are huge focus points, and when you use too many of them, people won't know where to look which results in the thumbnail losing its power. In the let's create our video section, I'll teach you a better way to create a thumbnail for this niche.

Used thumbnail 2

This is one is better but.. ✅
Because they only used three faces, this thumbnail is much easier to follow. However, there are still a few too many focus points due the red text, and I can't tell from the pictures whether they're from the military or something like that.

How to find topics?
If you look at the competitive channel, you'll see a clear pattern: corrupt male officers, US military personnel, and corrupt female officers all end up in prison. In my video analysis, I also mentioned that topics related to executions work really well in this sub-niche. If you're interested, you can check out that niche too, as I’ve made an analysis on it.
What’s important in this niche is that we’re following this new pattern, which is working really well. Basically, anything related to corruption and people ending up in prison is interesting to this audience. It doesn't matter if it’s men or women; both genders are fine to use. However, it’s worth noting that men make up the majority of this audience. So, what I’d suggest is focusing on what’s working right now: corrupt law enforcement and military personnel serving life sentences. That’s the key to connecting with this target audience. How to find the best topics for this, I will share with you below:
YouTube: On YouTube, I’ve found a few other channels that are also achieving lots of views in this niche
https://www.youtube.com/@undercoverdiariesYT/videos
Google: But you can also find a lot of topic inspiration on Google. As I mentioned earlier, they use real cases and real footage. So if you search on Google for 'police officer/military life sentenced in prison,' a lot of articles will come up.
ChatGPT: But to make it even easier for yourself, I’d recommend working with ChatGPT as well. You can simply ask ChatGPT to provide you with 10 examples of American police officers or military personnel who are currently serving life sentences, and it will give you those names. Then it’s up to you to check if there’s enough footage available for a case. The more, the better.

Topic:
To create my own topic in this niche, I got back to chatting with ChatGPT and asked it to provide 10 examples of military or police officers who were sentenced to long prison terms for horrific crimes. Then, some interesting names came up. Check out the articles below.

How to create your thumbnail?
First I started of with the background. I started with a red background you can find on Google when typing in something like: red broken wall background

Mugshot
Then I created a block with a background like the ones police stations use for mugshots. That’s really important so people can quickly see that it’s about a criminal.

Adding a person with uniform
Then I added a person in front of the mugshot background. It’s really important that the person you show here is wearing a uniform. If you can’t find a picture of that specific person in uniform, you can use AI tools like OpenArt.ai to add one.

Adding text
Then I used the font Abolition to add some text below the mugshot image. It’s important to keep the text as short as possible, and for the finishing touch, I added a red block behind the text to highlight the emotional trigger word.

Repeat this 2 more times
Then you need to add two more cases on the left and right, following the same steps I explained. And here is the final result:

AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience like?
Straight to the point
There are a lot of comments from viewers saying they really appreciate that this channel doesn’t use long, drawn-out intros in their videos. And because I keep seeing this comments over and over again, I decided to include it here because it’s actually a very important factor for your success. I’ll go into more detail during the video analysis, but for now, just remember this: 👉 Keep your intro as short as possible.
Corrupt military/police officers
One of the biggest triggers for this audience is stories about corrupt military or police officers. It’s a theme that gets a strong emotional reaction because people love to see power being abused and justice being served. This is also a clear pattern on the competitor’s channel you’re about to see. They regularly post videos featuring corrupt soldiers, agents, or officers who end up getting exposed or imprisoned and those are also their best-performing videos. Besides, Iit’s the kind of content that naturally grabs attention, because it involves authority figures breaking the rules, and viewers are always curious to see how that plays out.
