This is fine, but...
It’s not necessarily bad what they’re doing here, but it’s basically just a repeat of the title, so it isn’t very triggering. A better way would be to cut that line completely and jump straight into the story, giving the viewer exactly what they clicked for. So doing it this way isn’t wrong, but it could definitely be improved.

This is a must
'There's a hidden truth that most seniors will never hear from their doctors.'
This is exactly what I mean by making the script more triggering. You want the viewer to feel like they have so many reasons to stay that clicking away simply isn’t an option, they need to keep watching to discover the hidden truth. Hooks like this are perfect for extending watch time, which directly benefits your AVD. What I also like is that they bring it up within the first 10 seconds, which is the most critical moment when most viewers drop off.

Triggering transition and interaction with your audience
'And you won't believe what made it to number two. Before we begin, let us know in the comments below where you're watching from, your age, and have you ever regretted a test or procedure?'
What they’re doing here is also creating a higher AVD, just like I mentioned above. With the first sentence: 'And you won't believe what made it to number two.' They give the viewer another reason to keep watching the next case. Using triggering transitions is a very important factor in making a video go viral. Use these types of transitions as examples when moving to your next point so you hold attention as long as possible. The great thing about this audience is that it’s probably easier to do, since they’re older and generally have a longer attention span than the so-called TikTok generation. This means the chances of them watching your video all the way through are high if you keep adding hooks and constant reasons to stay. On top of that, they like interaction. Soy asking small questions here and there, you increase the chance they’ll comment, which YouTube counts as engagement, another strong signal to push your video further.

Facts
Mentioning facts in your script from time to time makes the story feel more real. I’d definitely recommend adding this occasionally throughout your script. You can easily find these kinds of facts through Google or simply by asking ChatGPT. More on this later in let’s create your video.

Boring editing, but...
What you see here is pretty boring editing. There’s no background music, not many real visuals, and sometimes bad stock footage. But on the other hand, this video still pulled in 1.3M views with this kind of content, which shows that the audience doesn’t really mind and can watch it just fine. Since it’s an older audience, you don’t need flashy effects or fast-paced editing, but you can definitely improve it by adding some sound effects, subtle background music, and better-quality stock footage.

This thumbnail achieves more than 3.1M views...
So overall this is a good thumbnail, but because of the long text and the many focus points it looks too chaotic. But if you look at the message of the thumbnail, then this is very triggering for this audience, because it didn’t get 1.3M views for nothing. So if you use this thumbnail format as example (left a situation shown and right a person with visible brain and glow effects added) then this works very well for this audience. Also, if you look at the most popular thumbs of this channel, you clearly see this pattern coming back. How i would make this better:
• don’t use more than 3/4 words
• don’t use more than 3/4 focus points
• make the text white, so the thumbnail looks calmer and only make the arrow red, this way the focus goes directly where you want it.

I think you can raise your RPM even higher if you make longer videos because I think this audience can handle that easily

Important message
The reason this niche works so well is simple: you are speaking directly to a very large and engaged audience, seniors 60+. They are on YouTube every day looking for practical health tips, foods they should or shouldn’t eat, and secrets to living longer. The content is not hard to produce, but what makes it stand out is how you package it. The videos use strong and urgent titles with words like STOP, Never, Avoid, Dangerous, Secrets and then deliver the information in a calm, structured way. Seniors like being guided through a list or a step-by-step explanation, so the format is easy to follow and feels trustworthy for them.
How to find topics?
When you look at the competition, especially Senior Secrets 60, you can see the patterns immediately. Titles almost always start with a clear call to the audience: After 60, Over 70, Seniors. That’s the hook that tells the viewer, “this video is for me.” Right after that comes the trigger: STOP Eating These Foods, Never Take These Pills, Avoid These Habits. The third element is the curiosity gap, often something like Here’s Why or Doctors Won’t Tell You. And once they click, they stay because the videos are easy to watch because of simple lists, calm narration, relatable topics like food, pills, memory, sleep, or blood pressure. Finding new topics is honestly very easy. Just look at what already works and repeat the same formula with new foods, new habits, or new health concerns.
Google: Google is one of the easiest ways to find endless new video ideas in this niche. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel, just type in simple searches like “foods to avoid after 60”, “habits that make you live longer”, “medications dangerous for seniors”, or “daily routines for older adults”. The results are full of health blogs, medical websites, and news articles that you can use as inspiration.

ChatGPT: Another way to generate topics for this niche is by using AI tools like ChatGPT. You can ask for lists such as “10 foods seniors should never eat”, “morning habits that shorten your life after 60”, or “dangerous medications for seniors.” From there, you can take the results and shape them into scripts.

Topic:
To create my own topic in this niche, I checked the competition channel to see if there was a recently posted video that really stood out in views. I found one, and the topic clearly connected with the audience. With 1.3M views, it’s something we simply can’t ignore. This shows that the subject is a strong trigger for this demographic, and that’s why I want to build on it.

How to create your thumbnail?
I started by uploading a competitor’s thumbnail to Pikzels.com. This platform makes it easy to create thumbnails with AI or even recreate existing ones, which is exactly what I wanted to do here. After all, a thumbnail that pulled in 1.3M views clearly worked for a reason.

Prompt:
This is the final result I created. The prompt from ChatGPTI used was the following: A hyperrealistic thumbnail in 16:9 format. An elderly man lying in an MRI scanner, wearing a hospital gown, looking slightly worried. A female nurse stands next to the machine. The lighting is bright, clean, and clinical with no green tint, giving a professional medical look. On the right side of the thumbnail: a close-up portrait of the elderly man’s face in ultra-realistic detail, with a glowing bright spot inside his brain, showing veins and texture clearly.

Finishing touches
In the end, I also adjusted the exposure, texture, and whiteness. On the left side, I made the blue clothing brighter so the man stands out more. On the right side, I mainly focused on texture to make it look as realistic as possible.

AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience like?
Senior secrets
What this audience finds interesting are health tips or specific things they should or shouldn’t take. Think of health tests that could actually be harmful, but also foods that might cause certain problems. These are the kinds of topics that trigger their curiosity and make them click.
Everyday food mistakes
What also works really well with this audience are common mistakes with food they’ve been eating or storing wrong for years. When they realize that something as simple as refrigerating tomatoes could actually be harmful, it triggers both shock and curiosity.
