niche?

In this niche, I found a channel where the RPM can be incredibly high because the videos in this niche are on the longer side and the space niche is already known for having a higher RPM than usual. The best part is that these videos aren’t difficult to make, so a high RPM with videos that are easy to create is exactly how I'd describe this niche. On top of that, you can keep coming up with new topics because the videos are all about the universe, a topic with endless things to talk about. So, if you're interested in space and the universe, this might be a perfect fit for you.

Do's

Click on timestamp

00:00

Start the story right away

They start the story right from the beginning and immediately point out what the viewer clicked for in the title. Very good start!

00:00

Nice background music

I really like the choice made for the background music. It can give the viewer a relaxing feeling and that can also be the reason why they can fall asleep with it. So I would also definitely recommend this for if you want to start in this niche to add this kind of background music.

00:01

Footage matching the script

The footage you see here is exactly what this audience has so many questions about. How was the universe made? What was there before there was nothing? I therefore like that they show this footage right at the first few seconds of the video as well, because it fits well with what is being told.

00:11

Name the questions your target audience has

In this niche, it’s very important to mention these questions because they’re exactly what the viewer is thinking about. This way, you create a sense of recognition for the viewer and make them feel that you can provide the value they’re looking for.

00:37

Let them imagine something

'Imagine a place in space, where there's almost nothing... No stars, no planets, just emptiness..'

By asking the viewer to imagine something, you make sure they can follow the story even better. That way, they will keep watching longer and that will result in a positive effect on your AVD. To create a good script in this niche I would elaborate on the points below.

- Name questions the viewer might have
- Let them imagine something
- Use a lot of hooks throughout the script

2:28

Nice video editing

I see nice video footage added by the editor. This way the message they want to convey can be told even more clearly. While this level of quality isn’t necessary for success, if you have a video editor who can add these kinds of visuals, I’d definitely recommend doing it.

Don'ts

3:40

Don't overcomplicate it

I understand that discussing how the universe was created and what existed before anything is a very complex topic. But until this point in the video, I could follow along just fine and was interested in a question that would catch the attention of this audience. However, I think the video then gets a bit too complicated, and I’ve seen comments that say the same thing. For example: "After watching the whole thing, I am now more confident that I know 'Nothing.'"

What I’m trying to say is, don’t make it too complicated because that might be the moment I lose interest as a viewer. Try to keep it simple and clear.

TITLE RATING

Spacedust

Used title 1

How Did Our <span class="text-color-yellow">Universe</span> Start From Nothing?

Normally, I’m not a fan of using a question as a title. Why? Because it can make it seem like you don’t know the answer yourself. On YouTube, you usually want to do the opposite, you want to create a strong statement that will raise questions. But in this niche, I’d make an exception because this is a question that everyone might have in their mind. When you read it, you might genuinely think: "Yeah, how does that work?" This curiosity can make you want to click. That’s why I think it’s a great title, but only for this specific niche.

Spacedust

Used title 2

<span class="text-color-red">4 Hours</span> Of <span class="text-color-orange">Mind-Boggling Space Facts</span> To Fall Asleep To

A different kind of title structure, but it's fine. I do think that it could be a little bit better by using a different kind of trigger word than 'mind-boggling.' Something that stands out more, like for example the word SHOCKING in capital letters. Besides, I do like that they mention right away that this is an X hours video about Space Facts that will help you fall asleep, because this can be something that people are actually looking for: videos to fall asleep with. So if you change the triggerword to something like this I think that your title will stand out a lot more:

[X] Hours of SHOCKING Space Facts To Fall Asleep To

Spacedust

Used title 3

How did everything start from nothing?

Same title as Title 1, so this gives us the conformation that these questions really trigger this audience. And that’s precisely why I want to address this title, even though you might think: isn’t this almost the same as Title 1? But that’s exactly why I believe it’s important to talk about it. This is a great example of how, when something is proven to work, it’s often best to build on that success. Many people tend to constantly chase something new, but there’s real value in sticking with what has been confirmed to work well. Sometimes, even a small change (in this case, just one word in the title) can make a difference. So remember: if something works, it works.

✅ Triggering thumbnail

This is a good thumbnail for in this niche because there are not too many focus points used and because the text is exactly the thing that triggers for in this target audience. Given that a black background is being used, I think it is good that the image they chose contains a blue color because it makes it stand out even more. Good thumbnail!

Spacedust

Used thumbnail 2

✅ Confirmation that this works

Again, as with the titles, it's good to just keep going when we see that something works well, and with these thumbnails, that's definitely the text. You can see that they only changed one word and continue the success and views they created with thumbnail 1. Smart move!

Spacedust

Used thumbnail 3

✅ Bright colors

Imagine this: you are scrolling and looking at different types of photos in split seconds. Where will your eye go first? For me, that answer is color. And that is exactly what you want to create with a thumbnail, that it stands out. So the fact that they chose to go for a bright orange color with blue for this thumbnail, is a smart move. Besides, I do think the text could be a little bigger so it's a little more readable than it is now, but overall also a fine thumbnail for in this niche.

How to find topics?

To find good topics in this niche, it's important to look at the competition, just like in any other niche. What is working well, and what isn't? What I have noticed most during my research is that the topics where it is clearly stated that it is a video to fall asleep with work well, and also the videos where a question is asked that everyone would like an answer to. As an example: What was there before there was nothing? What was there before the universe? How was the universe created?

Those questions I have mentioned above are the ones that trigger this target group the most. To give you a better understanding of what kind of topics I'm talking about, I've created a small overview for you below:

- How did time ever begin?

- What came before nothing?
- How was the Universe created?
- How did the Universe start from nothing?
- How was the world created?
- Is the universe really infinite?

YouTube:

On YouTube I found some other channels where you can get a lot of topic inspiration from.

https://www.youtube.com/@SpacedustDOC/videos

ChatGPT:

If you know how to use ChatGPT, then you can definitely use it for topic inspiration for in this niche. Off course, you can also write a script with ChatGPT if you know how to do that, but make sure there are no obvious mistakes visible in the script because as we have seen this audience doesn't appreciate that.

TikTok:

On TikTok, you can also get a lot of topic inspiration. I simply searched on 'How was the Universe created', and filtered by:

Topic:

During my research for a good topic, I reviewed the most popular videos from our competitor channel, Spacedust. As mentioned earlier, we noticed a clear pattern: videos about the universe, especially long ones meant to fall asleep to, are very popular. Their most popular video is "The Unexplained Mysteries of the Universe."

Because of this, I want to combine what works well and came up with the following idea:

3 Hours of Unexplained Mysteries What Came Before Nothing.

I also noticed that this channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Illx0WkCxU&t=19s share many articles in their description where you can get a lot of information from. I’ll link those below:

YOUR VIDEO

Title example

4 Hours of UNEXPLAINED Mysteries Of What Came Before Nothing

How to create your title?

I chose this title because it involves a combination of the title structures that all resonate well with our competition channel: at the beginning of the title you indicate right away that it is a long video, then use two words from the title structure of the most popular video at Spacedust (Unexplained Mysteries) and then cover the topic. The title structure then looks like this:

[HOURS] + Unexplained Mysteries + Topic

The only thing you have to be careful about with this title structure is that you have to be careful not to make it too long, because that happens quickly with this one.

How to create your thumbnail?

Since I wanted to create a good sharp picture of the universe I chose MidJourney. I must say I did not get the effect I wanted and had to try several prompts to get to this one: 'The big bang in Universum.'

Photoshop

Then I went to Photoshop and placed the globe on the right side so there is enough room to add the focus point.

Generative fill

I wanted the globe to stand out more, so I took the following steps: Select subject with lasso tool -> Generative Fill -> Add Glow. Besides, I also added a small white dot with some outer glow.

Focus point

Then I chose to add another red arrow so that the focus is properly directed to the white dot.

I ended up adding the text “NOBODY KNEW THIS” because I think it could raise a lot of questions in this niche. If you followed all the steps then this will be the end result:
