What It's Like To be

Why this
niche?
I found 1 channel that uploaded only 2 videos and earned up to $20K+ in 2 weeks. Besides that, I found several other channels that also show there is plenty of potential in this niche.

Do's
00:00
Starting straight away
It may seem simple, but starting your video without any intro is super important. You immediately give viewers what they clicked for, which makes it more likely that they will keep watching.
00:05
Animation/picuture style editing
This might look complicated, but with AI nowadays, it really is not that hard to pull off. The real strength of this video is its simplicity. It is not meant to look polished, and that slightly amateurish look is what gives it an authentic vibe.
00:16
Sound effects
Sound effects really help bring the story to life, so this is something I would definitely recommend trying.
00:20
Voice over
This voice over probably would not work well in most other niches because the delivery is very monotone, but in this niche that is actually works. Just like with the editing, the emotionless way of speaking creates a certain nonchalance that gives the videos a very authentic feeling, which is exactly what this audience enjoys.
00:46
Storytelling
This might be obvious, but one of the reasons this video is enjoyable for this audience to watch is because the script is told in a fun, storytelling way.
Don'ts
00:00
Music
I feel like the music does not trigger enough emotion, and I think it might be better to use no music at all and rely purely on sound effects instead.
00:55
Hooks
I’m missing hooks in this script, especially at moments like this. Right now the voice-over says: “Level 2. Pause. The Transporter.” That pause gives viewers time to think about whether they even want to hear the story of level 2. If instead the voice-over said something like, “But then you reach rank 2, which means…”, you don’t give the viewer that moment to decide because they’re already listening to the story of rank 2 before they realize it.
I’d also like to see more hooks throughout the rest of the script like little moments that give the viewer something to look forward to. Right now, the script mainly relies on the ranks themselves as the thing people look forward to, and by adding hooks would make it even stronger.

Used thumbnail 1
This thumbnail got 1.1M views
This is a solid thumbnail. What they do well is:
Not more then 3 focus points ✅
One person + a short piece of text with a maximum of three words makes the thumbnail easy to scan and easy to read.
That said, this thumbnail can definitely be improved.
It does not trigger enough emotion ❌
If you look at a thumbnail from another channel, for example, the facial expression of the person triggers much more emotion, which makes it more eye catching and clickable.

How to find good topics?
When searching for topics you could do 2 things:
- Look in the comments of competitors
- Use ChatGPT (or any other AI)
1. Look in the comments of competitors
The comment section is often a goldmine for finding good topics, and that is definitely true for this niche as well. People often share what they want to see there, and on top of that, others like those comments when they agree with them. This makes it a great place to find ideas that clearly resonate with the audience.
2. ChatGPT methode
If you cannot find enough ideas in the comments or you are looking for extra validation, you can also use AI to come up with new topics. Simply take a screenshot of the channel and upload it to ChatGPT, then ask it to suggest new topics based on the videos that are performing well.
So what topic should I go with?
When looking at the competing channel, you can see a clear pattern where criminal gangs with a Spanish influence perform the best. I took a screenshot of this and uploaded it to ChatGPT, and after some back and forth, the topic of CJNG came up. I also saw this name mentioned in the comments, which makes it feel like a strong choice to go with.

How to create your thumbnail
I started by googling what a CJNG soldier looks like, and I came across a few photos of a soldier wearing a creepy clown mask. Right away I thought this would be great for clicks because it stands out and feels strange and different. So I asked ChatGPT the following:
“Can you turn this man into a soldier wearing a creepy clown mask in the same style?”

After that, I received this image as the result:

Add text + arrow + color
After that, I added the text Dead Man Walking in the Comic Sans font, because I saw that this kind of text has been used more often on competing channels and performed well. I then added an arrow and made part of the text red. This is the final result:
