Great intro!
'The Matrix. What if I told you that everything you knew your life your memories your world was all a lie?'
This is a strong start because it immediately makes the viewer stop for a moment and think. It creates mystery and fits perfectly with the dark and confusing world of The Matrix. It pulls your audience in and sets the tone for what’s coming. Great intro!

Nice voice-over
I really like this voice-over. It sounds like a real, natural voice telling the story. I think the tone is great, and it sounds like a young to middle-aged American, which fits this niche perfectly.

Interact with your audience.
'Which is more terrifying? Living in a fake reality designed to keep you complacent, or waking up to a world where you wish the illusion had never been broken?'
What they’re doing here is great for building a connection with your audience. By asking questions like this throughout the script, you increase the chances of getting more comments because people actually want to share their opinion. This also sends a positive signal to YouTube, since your audience is showing engagement by commenting.

Funny editing
What stands out to me about this editing style is that they use simple images, and make them funny by adding text. As you can see, this isn’t next-level editing with high-quality effects, that’s not the point. What really matters is finding an editor who understands the humor. Someone who knows exactly what kind of text to place and where, to keep the audience entertained and engaged.

Bad transition
What we see here is something that shows up in many niches: the use of bad transitions. They give the viewer no reason at all to keep watching the next part, and that’s exactly where people tend to click away. What you want instead is to create watch time, keep the viewer engaged for as long as possible. You can do that by adding triggering transitions like this one:
• But if you thought was the darkest fictional universe… you’re wrong, because [then introduce the next topic]
• But this story isn’t even the most shocking part. What comes after will seriously make you question everything...
• You might think that this was it, but we're just getting started because this next.. [then introduce the next topic]

✅ Clear thumbnail pattern
One thing we see clearly on this competing channel is a consistent thumbnail pattern: eight image circles with a topic title underneath. I’d recommend using the same thumbnail strategy within this niche, because it creates instant recognition for viewers. If you suddenly switch to a completely different thumbnail style, there’s a real chance your target audience won’t realize your content belongs to the same niche. So make sure to build that same kind of visual recognition the competing channel has already established.

How to find topics?
I can totally understand that if you’re just discovering this niche and don’t have much experience with it, your first thought might be: “How am I supposed to come up with topic ideas?” But here’s the good news: I’m going to show you exactly how to do that below.
Of course, it would be ideal to work with someone who already has a natural interest or affinity for this niche, but even if you don’t, you can easily use ChatGPT to help you brainstorm ideas.
Now, there are a few important things I want to share with you specifically, the patterns we’ve seen on competing channels. If you look purely at the titles and topics, one keeps coming back more than any other:
- When Villains Win: Fiction’s Darkest Endings Explained in 10 Minutes and Your Favorite Disney Movies’ Dark Origins — Explained in 19 Minutes
They’ve used this theme over more than 7 times, and the views clearly show it’s exactly what the audience responds to.
YouTube: Here are a few other YouTube channels I came across that are worth checking out.

ChatGPT: I asked ChatGPT what kind of topics it would cover based on different titles from the competitor’s channel, and many of the suggested subjects closely matched what appeared in the thumbnails. This shows that ChatGPT has a good understanding of what this niche is all about.
For example: what kind of subjects would you cover under a title like “Your Favorite Disney Movies’ Dark Origins — Explained in 19 Minutes”? and this you see below is what came out. The great thing here is that if you know how to work with ChatGPT you can also continue from that point to create your own script.

Topic:
To create my own topic in this niche, I sent the title Fiction’s Darkest Universes Explained in 16 Minutes and the thumbnail to ChatGPT. Then I asked him what stands out to him about this title and thumbnail, and if he understands why those topics were chosen. Eventually, I asked him if he could come up with 8 other examples, and this is what came out:

How to create your thumbnail?
I started by creating the frame myself in Canva. It’s important to use eight circles and a bright background color — this makes your thumbnail stand out even more. Then you add the title underneath, and it should look something like this:
.png)
I ended up finding the images through Google. I tried to keep things simple by focusing on one person or one big logo per image, no group shots or chaotic pictures. That way, the thumbnail stays clean and easy to read. In the end, if you followed all the steps it looks like this:

AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
What does the audience like?
Fictions' Darkest Endings and Universes
This audience really knows dark universes inside out. Just take a look at the comments, they love sharing their thoughts and often spark new ideas. That’s why it’s always a must to scan the comments before jumping into a niche. There’s usually a ton of valuable insight there.
Villains
Something else that really triggers this audience is when villains win in a fictional ending or universe. Just take this comment as an example:
